THE GIRL BEHIND ALL THE CANDY ART

Caramelaw A.K.A Sheena Aw, is a mad motion graphic designer/video editor by day and a candyland superhero by night. She’s an adventurer, a dreamer and a monster creator. After a hard day’s work in the office during the day, Caramelaw rides on her unicorn and trundles down the magical rainbow bridge into her studio for a bit of action, making candy art, customizing vinyl toys and dolls. Occasionally stuffing lots of chocolates into her face and drinking tea. She loves tea.

Cute + Morbid, that sums up her work perfectly.

Nature, colours, rainbows, monsters and everything that’s strange. The stranger her creation gets, the happier she is. She’s weird like that. Caramelaw draws inspiration from all time art-heros, Simone Legno of Tokidoki, Takashi Murakami, Tado, Friends With You and many more. She gets excited just thinking about them. In a good way. It’s definitely not what you think.

She’s also a big nature lover. Be it trees, animals, flowers, mushrooms, rainbows, raindrops…anything! It plays a big part in her art creations. Caramelaw loves how beautiful and perfect mother nature is. She thinks the world should learn from its beauty and not take anything on earth for granted. She tends to reflect that in most of her artwork.

Caramelaw has done design work for DC Comics, Atomic Snowboard, Hasbro and many others. Won a Silver PROMAX Award back in 2005 for one of her on-air promos for MTV Asia. That made her a very happy girl. Not that she’s not a happy girl. She always is. An award always makes anyone happy.

Besides the sickening world of broadcast, she finds herself emerged in her little world of candies, rainbows and mushrooms. Her vector world which she can never stop creating and hopefully, bringing joy to those who enjoys her art and custom toys.
